In the early 1990s, driven by dreams of exploring the wider world, Guo Huazhong boarded a long-distance bus from his hometown to Guangzhou—a city bustling with opportunity. He began his career in a Taiwan-funded shoe company, where he was assigned to a production line. Unlike many who might grow weary of repetitive tasks, Guo took every opportunity to observe, learn, and understand each detail of the manufacturing process.
He soon noticed that the traditional leather cutting methods were inefficient and often resulted in inconsistent quality. Fueled by curiosity and determination, he began to ponder how the situation could be improved. After just three months on the line, Guo was transferred to the PU product mold development team. Drawing from his childhood experience watching his father make plaster molds in a state-owned ceramics factory, he spent over 100 sleepless days and nights developing a new aluminum alloy epoxy resin mold. This mold reduced the 45-day steel mold process to just 7 days—a revolutionary change that earned him accolades, promotions, and a growing reputation within the industry.

His responsibilities grew to include shoe sample design, material cutting, stitching, assembly, and sole bonding. By 1994, in an era when few earned high wages, Guo had already become a senior executive earning 80,000 RMB annually. Yet, despite his success, Guo was far from content.
He understood that technological advancement was the real driver of industry transformation. After proposing to import advanced Japanese equipment—which was ultimately rejected due to high costs and foreign monopoly—Guo's dissatisfaction with the limitations of domestic technology deepened. He asked himself, “Why don’t we have our own cutting-edge technology?” That question became the spark for a bold new chapter in his life.

Starting From Scratch: Determination in the Face of Uncertainty
In 1995, Guo resigned from his executive role and founded the predecessor to RUIZHOU Technology—Nanhai Ruizhou Footwear Tech Development Center—on March 7. It became the first computer-aided design studio in Guangdong's footwear industry. To fund this venture, he sold his beloved motorcycle and rode a bicycle door-to-door, introducing his services across local industrial parks.
By 1996, he secured exclusive rights to distribute a Japanese CAD/CAM shoe sample system in China, placing his studio at the forefront of technology. But Guo didn’t stop there—he was determined to develop original, proprietary solutions.

Together with his team, he tirelessly tackled technical challenges and persevered through countless failures. Finally, in 2004, their efforts paid off. One pivotal moment came during a conversation with an old friend, who suggested, “Why not apply your cutting technology to leather?” Inspired, Guo immediately convened a team meeting. Guo was invited to join this ambitious initiative. Many skeptics questioned their efforts—“If top-tier foreign machines can't do it, what makes you think you can?” they said. But Guo remained undeterred. “We are no less capable than imported brands,” he insisted.
Fueled by determination, RUIZHOU’s team dove headfirst into the challenge. Their R&D center became a hive of activity—diagrams, testing, revisions, sleepless nights, and relentless collaboration. In 2016, the impossible became reality: RUIZHOU launched the world’s first AR projection solution for personalized garment customization, solving longstanding industry pain points and ushering in a new era of innovation.
